I'm a Magazine and Idea Book Junkie. It's a sickness I picked up right after college. I graduated from the University of Kentucky and immediately went to work for a Congressman from Kentucky on Capital Hill. I rented an apartment in Northern Virginia and it was then that my love affair with monthly periodicals began. The likes of Southern Living and Country Living fit right into my new lifestyle. They fast became my night time lullaby. It wasn't long before idea books came on the scene....and by golly I put them right up on my glass top coffee table just like my mother did on her Ethan Allen one. At 22 I was on the fast track to becoming my Mother. Fast forward 29 years... my coffee table is a carpenter's chest purchased by my husband and I 26 years ago, just after we became engaged. While it's not an Ethan Allen like my Mother's....it is heaped with the likes of Southern Living, Country Living, Country Home, Mary Engelbreit, Romantic Home, and Victoria magazines plus current 2008 versions of idea books (including my own creation of one)...and the passage of time hasn't changed things much.
Several times a year I tend to the 'idea arena'. I tame the magazine/idea book Junkie in me. This morning was the Springtime Purge. I went through piles of magazines and pulled pages out that inspired me......I took my scissors and cut pictures out and glued them into my own version of an Idea Book. After the ripping and cutting and glueing I pitched the remainder of the magazine.....when all was said and done over 30 magazines had been laid to rest. Now that little corner of my world is tidy and neat......at least for today! Here's a peak at my newly spruced up space and some ideas I've saved......
I'm off to the local asparagus farm and for a drive in the country...I'll be back later to tell you all about my tidy little book pile! Enjoy your Saturday afternoon!!

I'm a fellow magazine junkie. Is there a ten step program for us? I love your idea of cutting out the pictures of what you REALLY like instead of hanging on, for all eternity, the magazine itself.
I may just copy you on this idea...

I love books and magazines as well! Cookbooks, love them. Craft books, etc. I'm a hoarder of sorts and have to purge as well every now and then. I love your idea book, thanks for sharing your pages!
Your cover is wonderful!
